Quick Hits: Haute Happenings in Boston

This week, there were lots of haute announcements here in Boston from the debut of a MOtini pop-up lounge to a southern-inspired restaurant and an Invisalign boutique opening. Here’s a look at what is happening.

On March 1, Mandarin Oriental, Boston will debut a MOtini Pop-Up Lounge in the hotel’s lobby featuring a selection of seasonal small plates along with some specialty hand-crafted martinis. One of these martinis is the lounge’s signature #177 Martini made with Nolet Reserve Gin presented in an Aphrodite Coupe and hand-painted with 24-carat hammered gold. This haute cocktail will be available for $135.

Buttermilk & Bourbon will be opening next week at 160 Commonwealth Avenue. The haute New Orleans-inspired space comes to us thanks to Jason Santos of Abby Lane and Back Bay Harry’s.

B3, which stands for Back Bay Beats, is opening in Back Bay in early March. The restaurant will introduce Bostonians to a taste of southern cuisine with live music from Berklee College of Music and curated art installations. B3 will be headed up by Executive Chef Nicolas Swogger, who hails from Hungry Mother, and will feature live music seven nights a week by Berklee students as well as during Sunday brunch performed on the ‘Central Stage,’ a slightly raised platform in the middle of the restaurant.

Smilebar is now officially open at 303 Columbus Avenue. This is the city’s first Invisalign-only specialist boutique featuring the latest in 3D technology. Dr. Nayson Niaraki, along with Siamak Taghaddos and David Hauser, co-founders of Grasshopper, opened the haute spot in Boston’s Back Bay.

Word is officially out that Boston’s own Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge, who co-authored Boston Strong, are penning a book about Tom Brady and the New England Patriots’ historic comeback in Super Bowl LI.
