The Petersen Automotive Museum was an appropriate place for Bugatti to debut its new home collection in Los Angeles thanks to the museum’s new “Art of Bugatti” exhibit, featuring automobiles, paintings, furniture, sculpture and silver work from three generations of the Italian-French family (on display now through October 2017).

The year-long “Art of Bugatti” exhibition includes a vintage Type 55 and Type 41 Royale, a modern EB110 and Chiron, and a Type 57 Atlantic — believed by many auto enthusiasts to represent the pinnacle of French Art Deco automotive design. Alongside the cars, most designed by Ettore Bugatti, will be furniture designed by his father, Carlo Bugatti, sculptures by his brother Rembrandt Bugatti, and paintings by his daughter Lidia Bugatti.

The new project celebrates the style of the French luxury brand drawing inspiration from the brand’s legacy and combines the best Italian craftsmanship with a natural sense of beauty, a synergy of culture, tradition and technological concepts which shaped the Bugatti style. The major pieces of furniture such as its elegant Lydia bed, art deco Gianoberto table lamps and mod Atlantic dining table and accompanying chairs are presented in living, night and office ensembles reflecting Bugatti’s brand color blue and the sleek lines that are the brand’s signature.

Last week’s collection debut was attended by Dermot Mulroney, as as well as top designer including Barclay Butera, Bugatti owners from O’Gara coach, and real estate and developer executives including Mauricio Umansky from The Agency and developer Bruce Makowsky. Chateau Le Coste winery from Provence were poured, while catering was provided by the Drago brothers, who will be opening the Petersen’s signature on-site restaurant next month.
