5 Must-Have Dishes at Menton’s Gold Bar

Menton certainly knows how to raise the bar here in Boston. When they created Gold Bar, a luxe bar tucked inside the Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux property,we knew we were going to be in for a special treat.

Chef/owner Barbara Lynch‘s fine dining Menton, is a Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux property, the first and only one of its kind in the city of Boston. She was the first female Grand Chef in North America, and Menton was the only free-standing Grand Chef restaurant to be inducted in January 2012.

Start off ordering a bottle of champagne to pair alongside a dozen fresh East Coast oysters. We recommend moving along to the foie gras frankfurter. This is unlike any traditional hot dog you will find in the city. Instead, envision a decadently rich foie gras dog served on a buttery roll with blueberry-walnut catsup, popcorn mustard and white onion.

Be sure to arrive early to claim your seat in this exclusive section of Menton. The Gold Bar’s loungy space has just six seats and fills up quickly during the weekends so arrive early to avoid long waits. The decor is fashioned with a gold theme (think gold accented lights, chairs, bar shakers and metallic leather banquettes).

Next up, move on to an exclusive selection of Royal White Sturgeon caviar. Its delicious nutty flavor will complement that second bottle of bubbly you just ordered.

Barbara Lynch takes her sandwiches at the Gold Bar to a new level. You won’t find a traditional ham and cheese on the menu here. Instead, you will find a petite jamon sandwich topped with a quail egg and Bearnaise. Doesn’t get more decadent than this.

Finish your experience off by ordering the Chocolate Gold Bar topped with salted caramel and hazelnuts for one of the city’s best dining experiences.
