On Tuesday, Nov. 17th in Oklahoma City, NBA star Russell Westbrook channeled his star power for good. The point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunders hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the members of the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County.

Westbrook was joined by his wife Nina and brother Raynard. Together the Westbrooks feed more than 850 meals to members of the local Boys & Girls Club. This is the fourth annual Thanksgiving Dinner The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation has hosted along with the Boys & Girls Club. It’s the second year the NBA star has co-hosted with the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen.

As an alumnus of the Boys & Girls Club’s South Central Los Angeles Challengers Club, the 27-year-old has made giving back to the club that helped him during his youth a cornerstone of his charitable initiatives. As an extension of the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation, his parents will host the fourth Annual Los Angeles Thanksgiving Dinner at his childhood hangout, Jesse Owens Park, on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Since the inception of Westbrook’s foundation, the basketball player has dedicated himself to supporting community based education and family service programs while encouraging youth to believe in themselves despite adversity. The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation’s mission is to inspire the lives of children who are at-risk, experiencing hardship, low-income, poor academic performance with a goal to empower them to believe that anything is possible with determination by saying the foundation’s motto “Why Not?”
