Cinco de Mayo in Haute Dallas Style

The newest Mattito’s, on Oaklawn, will host a huge Cinco de Mayo party in the Centrum courtyard. Tequila tasting, margaritas, and a queso eating contest are all part of the fun. Dance to Mariachi or just people watch while you enjoy some of the best Tex-Mex in Big D. Once you’ve had a few margaritas you’ll be ready to ride the mechanical bull, right? The party starts at 4 PM on May 5.

If a quiet dinner is more your fiesta style Chef Irvin is hosting one of his renowned Butcher Bowl Mixer dinners in Plano on May 5. Entitled, Taste of the Mambo, guests will enjoy a five course meal that celebrates the food of Central and South America. As always, dinner is served banquet style and you are free to bring your own beverages.

Urban Crust is offering a Dinner and tequila tasting event on May 5th in the spirit of the day. Led by Executive Chef Partner Salvatore Gisellu and Chef James Pettus, there will be four courses ranging from appetizer to dessert. Each course will be paired with a featured tequila. Reservations are required for this event.

What would Cinco de Mayo be without music? The Irving Symphony Orchestra and Mariachi Vargas deTecalitlán will present traditional songs from Mexico on May 5,  7 PM at the Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas. Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán was created in 1897, has played to audiences all over the world, and is considered to be the best Mariachi in Mexico. The event will be directed by Maestro Héctor Guzmán.

Planning on hitting all of the parties? Migas and plenty of black coffee are the best cure for a night of partying and Lucky’s Cafe on Oak Lawn is where you will want to get them.
