Jaeger-LeCoultre Celebrates Earth Day with UNESCO

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the luxury watch brand, Jaeger LeCoultre?

The french name in rarified timepieces has been collaborating with UNESCO since 2008 in efforts to protect 47 marine sites on the World Heritage list. To underscore this effort, they enlisted award-winning naturalist photographer, Mark Kelley, to present his photos of Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. The photographs can be seen at the Madison Avenue Jaeger LeCoultre shop this week, which happens to be the 5th Annual Madison Avenue Watch Week.

To kick off this morning’s press conference, Brand President, Philippe Bonay, introduced UNESCO’s world heritage Marine program coordinator, Fanny Douvere. “UNESCO ensures that countries take the right actions to preserve the earth’s water systems, however 30% still have destructive fishing methods,” she said. Ms. Douvere introduced photographer, Mark Kelley who spoke of Glacier Bay National Park as his ” church” that he clearly feels passionate and spiritual about. His photographs of calving blue glaciers line the walls of the shop and are a sight to behold.
