‘Movement’ Launches In London

Another Magazine has joined forces with Sadler’s Wells in London—one of the capital’s prime contemporary dance centers—in order to debut a series of films that will capture and entwine the mediums of fashion and film and will launch later this month.

The films, named Movement, bring together seven designers who have created pieces for seven choreographed performances, which are then being reinterpreted for the screen by a range of directors. “[The project is] a labor of love for a number of talented craftsmen, creating completely bespoke collaborations that appreciate dance and fashion from a new perspective,” said Jefferson Hack, founder of Another Magazine. The participating designers in the project are Prada, Gareth Pugh, Calvin Klein Collection, Iris Van Herpen, Chalayan, Alexander McQueen and Stephen Jones Millinery.

Alexander McQueen’s contribution to the collaboration will be to dress dancer Marie-Agnès Gillot for a film that will be directed by Daniel Askill. Chalayan, on the other hand, will create a film with director Jacob Sutton, dressing dancers Aya and Bambi, whilst Prada’s offering will be costumes for the Tanztheater Wuppertal, which became famous due to the late creative choreographer Pina Bausch. Following the premiere of the project on April 17 at Sadler’s Wells in London, there will be a print interpretation of the collaborators, which will be featured in the Fall 2015 issue of Another Magazine. Two subsequent screenings on April 18 will follow, after which the project will be available to view online at anothermag.com from April 20.
