Thank the Gods: Hermes Finds a New Home in the Gold Coast

News | June 12, 2010

A message sent straight from the heavens: a brand-new 6,000-square-feet of drool-worthy shopping bliss is opening on upscale Oak and Rush. Hermes is opening a flagship Chicago store and is taking some real estate from Barney’s to do it.

Called “one of Paris’ best guarded jewels” by U.S. News & World Report, the signature store will be modeled after the original Hermes in Paris and will feature their signature silk scarves, leather goods, perfumes, ties, men’s and women’s haute couture, jewelry, shoes and an equestrian line per the company’s early 19th century origins (did you know their humble beginnings were as a saddle shop?).

Looking for the perfect one-of-a kind accessory? The lux design team created a limited edition scarf just for Chicagoans. How did we get so lucky? The Paddock (pictured), which retails for $375 is available in four colors and is only sold at the Chicago store.

Join the ranks of classic celebrity fans like Queen Elizabeth II (who wore one in a portrait for a British postage stamp), Grace Kelly (who used a scarf as a sling for her broken arm), Madonna and Oprah. Ooh la la.

We prefer French fashion to NYC anyway.
