How Much Did Wall Street Bonuses Rise In 2014?
New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli released estimates Wednesday putting the average bonus for the Wall Street securities industry to $172,860 (up 2% from 2013's average of $169,850), even though it slightly less profitable.

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli released estimates Wednesday putting the average bonus for the Wall Street securities industry to $172,860 (up 2% from 2013’s average of $169,850), even though it slightly less profitable.
“Industry profits were lower because of weakness in fixed income and commodities trading, higher capital reserve requirements, and the continued cost of legal settlements stemming from the financial crisis,” DiNapoli explained.

Despite the historic losses recorded during the financial crisis, data indicates that the securities industry has been profitable for six years consecutively, with three of the best years on record.
