All Saints Launches Handbag Collection
Edgy British brand All Saints has revealed that it’s branching out into a handbag line, set to be released in July. The 48-piece collection, designed by creative director Wil Beedle, will keep in line with the company’s rock aesthetic taking influence from their archive of leather jackets.
The announcement comes after All Saints decided to skip showing their newest collection at New York Fashion Week, instead opting to share it with viewers worldwide digitally. Beedle explained this move as a “global experience,” given that the company has recently expanded in areas such as South Korea, the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands.
The handbag range also takes its inspiration from All Saints’ East London headquarters and vintage aesthetic—visitors to the London branches of the store will have noted its windows lined with antique sewing machines and impressive old school interior. Named after the surrounding streets of the brand’s HQ, the pieces will come in a range of colours, from black, to tan and grey. Styles such as the Club bucket bag have Whipstitch features, while others are made for everyday practicalities, such as the fold-over Club cross-body envelope clutch, which has zip compartments and a simple chain handle. Wanting to draw attention to the “beauty of the skins, not hardware,” of the bags meant that Beedle chose to create all his styles as lightweight and comfortable as possible.
Beedle’s appointment in June 2012 has seen the brand move in a new direction, shedding to some extent its heavy, moody signature in favour of a more romantic and structured silhouette. The fall RTW collection features gray, camel, rust and charcoal tones in a softer, more muted design that is a testament to the evolution of the brand under the eye of its new creative director.
