Just before show time Friday night, The Platters’ hit song “The Great Pretender” played throughout the Pearl at the Palms, a nod to Chrissie Hynde’s group The Pretenders that propelled to stardom in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Following the song, Hynde, one of the most amazing and distinctive female voices in rock, took the stage and played a night of live music mixing songs from The Pretenders including “Don’t Lose Faith In Me,” “Biker” and “977,” with solo favorites from her new album Stockholm including “A Plan Too Far” and “Like In The Movies.” Chrissie switched up throughout the night between rocking an acoustic guitar, electric guitar and even a tambourine, all backed by a four-piece band.
