Hotel of the Fortnight: Sanctum Soho

News | October 13, 2014

The brainchild of larger than life nightlife impresario Mark Fuller, the £10 million Sanctum Soho has been billed as “London’s first rock ‘n’ roll hotel.”

Not that you would know it from the outside: the Soho retreat compromises two tasteful Grade-II listed Edwardian townhouses that were once occupied by MI5.

But push through the revolving doors and the boutique bolthole’s rock star credentials are all too evident. Expect to find diamante door handles, glittering mirrors, a private 45 seat cinema and 24 hour rooftop bar – the perfect place to sip champagne.

On the accommodation front, there are 30 rooms in total ranging from ‘funky crash pads’ to two bedroom apartments but all are flamboyantly furnished – think freestanding baths, rainforest showers and ceilings adorned with stars.

With so much on offer it would be easy to hole up in your hotel room but don’t. Instead venture downstairs to No 20 – a stylish modern British restaurant and bar that’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, coffee, cocktails and afternoon tea.

Bottom line? If you’re up for a bit of rock ‘n’ roll, seek out the Sanctum Soho.
