To celebrate the grand opening of their new Bal Harbour boutique, the Swiss avant-garde fashion line Akris, hosted a dinner for handpicked members of Miami’s VIP fashion crowd at the National YoungArts Headquarters. The fit between the brand and YoungArts is a natural one. Akris’ creative director, Albert Kriemler, creates sleek, minimal designs that are inspired by high-performance functionalism of modernist architecture. Kriemler is the third-generation family member to run the brand, and conversely, YoungArts’ Sarah Arison is the third generation to head the foundation.

The event started with drinks at the former Bacardi campus’ plaza and moved indoors for a fashion show of Akris’ current collection which is Mexican-inspired with hints of crisp white and terra-cotta. Then the party went back down to the plaza for an intimate dinner with Akris CEO of the Americas, Melissa Beste. Fashionable attendees included Sarah Arison, Nikki Simkins, Dana Shear, Suzy Buckley, Marcella Novella,  Dionea Orcini and Kristin Ducote.

The first-floor Bal Harbour store is open now and is the brand’s fourth in the US, joining Boston, New York and Dallas.
