Aspen Film Announces Shortsfest Program

With more than 3,000 submissions from more than 90 countries, Aspen Fim’s Shortsfest has become one of the country’s premier showcases for short films. A selection committee narrowed it to 70 shorts, which will screen during the annual festival April 8 through 13.
Films from three to 27 minutes in length cover every genre including comedy, drama, animation and documentary. Professionals will judge the films for the official International Competition during the six-day festival which takes place at the Wheeler Opera House and Crystal Theatre in Carbondale.
“Our 2014 season explores a truly global array of characters, situations and subjects,” says Aspen Film Co-Director George Eldred. “From our festival seats we travel together to all seven continents–even Antarctica–to experience the imagination of our talented filmmakers and their creative risk-taking. We look forward to sharing the thrill of discovery with our audiences this spring.”
Aspen Shortsfest will also partner with The Writers Guild Foundation to present “Writing for the Screen” featuring a set of screenwriters, including Peter Blake (Elementary, House M.D.), Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club) and David Pollock (M*A*S*H) on Saturday, April 12.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 21 and are available through the Wheeler Opera House Box Office in Aspen and The Blend in Carbondale, as well as aspenshowtix.com.
