Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Tom Reiss in Aspen
The 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner for biography, Tom Reiss, will speak in Aspen on Wednesday, March 19 as part of the Aspen Writers’ Foundation’s Winter Words series. In his book, The Black Count, he details the true story of the Count of Monte Cristo. In it, Reiss details the life of military hero Alex Dumas, father of the acclaimed novelist Alexandre Dumas, and the inspiration behind his son’s books, “The Three Muskateers” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.”
Reiss is an author, historian, and journalist who has written for The New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. He is the author of three non-fiction books, including Führer-Ex: Memoirs of a Former Neo-Nazi (1996) and the international bestseller, The Orientalist (2006).
Reiss’ talk starts at 6 p.m. and takes place in Paepcke Auditorium. Tickets are $20. The final speaker in the series is Maria Semple, author of “Where’d You Go Bernadette” on March 31.
