Coming Soon to a City Near You: The Trump River Walk
On April 1, the female heroine of the Trump empire, Ivanka unveiled the first section of the last phase of it’s Chicago development project: the River Walk, which in the coming months, will house 90,000 square feet of high-end fashion, beauty, specialty and dining outlets in a gorgeous, airy public space.
The river walk is essentially a riverfront park totaling 1.2 acres, and it’s opening right in time to give Millennium Park a run for it’s money on tourism and Michigan Ave. a competitor for it’s high-end clientele. The River Walk will be accessible from the Wrigley Building parkway and Wabash Avenue and will allow visitors to walk along the Chicago River with great views of Michigan Avenue, the skyline and take in the city without the notable distraction of honking cabs and bustling shoppers.
The city scenery isn’t the only sight to behold. The river walk path is made of black granite from the Far East and imported Jerusalem gold limestone that was chiseled by hand to create a one-of-a-kind pattern. The walkway also has a water lily pond to offer a calm central spot among the urban chaos. Think of it as Chicago’s Central Park.
At 1361 feet, 6 inches tall, the Trump International Hotel & Tower is currently the world’s seventh tallest building and the only building outside Asia besides Sears/Willis Tower to rank in the top ten. It appears they’re expanding out, not just up. And I for one, cannot wait to see what stores they will host.
