Haute Secrets: Kristin Dittmar of Residences Viceroy Snowmass
Interior designer Kristin Dittmar combines high-alpine luxe with comfy living for the four-bedroom residence units at the Viceroy Snowmass.
When the Viceroy Snowmass needed a mountain chic touch for its unique four-bedroom units—different from its Jean Michel-Gathy-designed rooms and residences—the property brought in local Aspen interior designer Kristin Dittmar for the job. The two four-bedroom, 2,300-square foot residences combine sleek, designer details with cozy, alpine living plus the amenity of high-end Viceroy standards. Haute living indeed.
What is your inspiration for the Residences Viceroy Snowmass?
The beautiful mountain environment that here in Aspen/Snowmass always inspires me. To channel the beauty of the outdoor environment to the Residences, I used different woods, metal and fabrics to design a luxe, but comfortable, space.
How did you approach this differently than you would a traditional home?
Since the Residences are high-end condos, I was able to use a lot of the same manufacturers. But, I had to make some changes for the Viceroy standards.
I thought the “jacks” would be perfect as fun and playful book ends. Another favorite touch is the chandelier, which brings a sense of sophistication to the design. I also really like how the mirror opens up the space.
I love the living room. I would live to cuddle up in that room to watch a movie or read a book on a snowy night. Also–as a woman–I love the large mirror. It always helps to have a big mirror when you’re getting ready for dinner.
I’m going to be helping the Viceroy with some additional units. Outside of that, and I have several residential clients in Aspen/Snowmass and an exciting project in Los Angeles.
Definitely my comfy bed. It’s topped with soft white linens and a cozy fur blanket. A good night’s sleep is an absolute must for me.
