Rev Those Engines: Aspen Startup Weekend Launches

Aspen Music School

Startup events around the country are turning entrepreneurs with ideas into successful business owners. Next on that map is the Roaring Fork Valley, with the inaugural Aspen Startup Weekend taking place Oct. 11-13 at the Aspen Music School Campus.

The Seattle-based nonprofit Startup Weekend has hosted more than 400 events in 100 countries. All of them follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

The weekend’s speakers include artist Tania Dibbs, AREDay founder Chip Comins, New York Times bestselling author Marc Ostrofsky and architect Harry Teague. Judges and coaches from around the country will be on-site to help.
