Haute 100 Update Miami: Mets Induct Mike Piazza Into Hall Of Fame

Miami Beach resident Mike Piazza was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame at the Citi Field in New York this week. It was an emotional occasion for the 45-year-old former New York Mets star, whose relationship with the team has been described as “rocky” since March and is now clearly on the up and up.  Piazza shared the special moment with his family, including his father Vince, who was in a wheelchair after a recent stroke. He gave an heartfelt speech showing gratitude for his support system thanking his family and his fans.

Piazza had a rocky start with the Mets fans after being traded from the Marlins in 1998 however he eventually won them over. One week after the attacks of 9/11, Piazza hit a home run. Acknowledging that moment during a news conference he said, “when I think about that day, it was that we were all together, with people we cared about, just trying to have a moment in a week of despair and fear.”
