The Pink Palace Is Back on the Market at $7 Million
One of Buckhead’s most iconic pieces of real estate is back on the market at $7 million. Built in 1926 by famed Atlanta architects Neel Reid and Philip Schutze, the 3.5 acre home was modeled after an 18th-Century Venetian Chapel, thus the Italian, Baroque-style features. The 16,000 square-foot home holds a deep history in the city. Originally built for the Rhodes Family, of the Rhodes Furniture fame, the mansion was a playground for the Atlanta’s high society. Soirees and galas were fixtures at this once-pink Buckhead home which boasts 7 bedrooms, a finished basement with a wine cellar (the perfect spot for modern-day parties because the insulation filters noise and cigar smoke from the rest of the home), two rooftop terraces, and a pool. And although, the home has received a major modern renovation from the previous owners, the original opulence touches such as the cathedral ceilings the French mid 18th-Century tapestry hanging on the dining room wall are still in tact. But its modern upgrades contribute to the lure of this manse. Deemed a “green” house because of the thermal heating, plumbing and water systems, the space has been modernized in small ways to accommodate a family from the 21st century.
Many of us had the pleasure to peruse the rooms of this palace back in 2007 when the mansion became a private special events facility. Then, in 2008, Lease Luxury Properties decided to lease the home for short-term rentals. We wonder which Hollywood heavies took residence here while they were in town filming?
And for $7 million, this famous Buckhead estate is a steal, considering its $20 million price tag last time it went on the market. The Pink Palace is listed at Estately.
