Leann Rimes Performs in Aspen this Saturday
Grammy Award-winning country singer Leann Rimes makes her Belly Up Aspen debut this Saturday, Aug. 10. The star rose to fame at age 13–one of the youngest country stars in history–with the release of Billie Mack’s “Blue.” In 1997, she was awarded the Grammy for “Best New Artist,” and went on to produce more than a dozen albums and more than 40 charting singles including “How Do I Live” and “Can’t Fight the Moonlight.” She has also received three ACMs, a CMA, 12 Billboard Music Awards, and one American Music award.
“I’ve been making music for eighteen years, but I’ve never felt like people really saw me as a person,” she says on her website. “They saw me as a prodigy with a big voice. I felt like an alien child. I don’t want to be ‘LeAnn Rimes,’ a name in lights. I want people who listen to my music to see me, know me, recognize me, as a normal human being who can sing and write and, I hope, connect with me through my music in a deeper way than ever before.”
She released the album “Spitfire” in April. She is married to actor Eddie Cibrian, who plays Cole Deschanel on “Sunset Beach.” She says that her album details “the experience of meeting him, falling in love with him, and weathering the resulting fallout has taught me and changed me. It opened me up to being myself and not what everyone wanted or expected me to be. The last three years have been a time of taking things apart and putting them back together on my terms. I’m grown up, but I still had a child in me that hadn’t been able to develop.”
Rimes performs at 9 p.m. with supporting act If Birds Could Fly. For tickets and more information, visit Belly Up Aspen.
