2010 State of Affairs for Manhattan Hotel Projects
Even though the new Trump SoHo has stolen the spotlight for the time being, we don’t want to leave anyone out, which is why it is important to pay attention to some of the latest news about the current state of affairs for the Manhattan hotel industry.
Today we got word that Lodging Development Group released the 2010 Manhattan Development Report, a listing that is described as “a comprehensive look at all hotels that are proposed, approved, under construction or newly opened in New York’s Manhattan borough as of the beginning of 2010.”
While it will cost you $399 to read the full report, we can share some of the summary details. Take, for example, that while only 21 hotel properties swung open their grand doors in 2009, things are looking up in 2010, with an expected 32 hotels slated to welcome guests this year. (Congratulations Trump SoHo on getting a jump start on the competition.) So far, only five have called for a 2011 ribbon cutting.
According to The Real Deal, Trump SoHo may be the superstar of the neighborhood right now, but it should prepare to give up its status as new kid on the block later this year when Mondrian SoHo sends out calling cards for a grand opening celebration at 150 Lafayette Street.
