New Moshe Safdie-Designed Event Space to be Added to The Skirball Cultural Center

Architect Moshe Safdie has designed two new additions to the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, the Guerin Pavillion and adjoining Herscher Hall.

The opening of the Guerin Pavillion and Herscher Hall will add 17,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space to the Skirball Cultural Center, a Jewish educational/cultural institution that was built in the mid-1990s.

The new additions will include event and meeting space, a 9,000-square-foot ballroom with retractable glass walls, reception areas, and more. The space can easily accommodate large-scale conferences, symposia, community forums, corporate business gatherings and more with seating in the ballroom alone for up to 670 banquet guests.

Expected to open in October of 2013, the new Guerin Pavillion and Herscher Hall will enable the center “to expand the event opportunities for its existing partners and hopefully for many new organizations and individuals,” says Marilyn Delanoeye, Skirball Vice President of Hospitality and Private Events. “We are proud to open this magnificent new space.” 

The Skirball Cultural Center is situated on 15 acres of land in the Brentwood Hills, and upon completion in the fall, it will have 60,000 square feet of total space. The center’s mission is to “explore the connections between 4,000 years of Jewish heritage and the vitality of American democratic ideals,” according to its website. People of every ethnic and cultural identity are welcome in an effort to “forge connections between individuals, families and communities.”
