Jimmy Fallon To Replace Jay Leno on ‘The Tonight Show’
After 22 years of entertaining millions of viewers, Jay Leno is stepping down from hosting The Tonight Show. The 62-year-old comedian will retire when his contract ends in spring 2014, the network officially announced Wednesday.
The network also announced that Leno will be succeeded by Jimmy Fallon and return to New York’s 30 Rock. “Congratulations, Jimmy. I hope you’re as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you’re the old guy,” Leno said in a statement. “If you need me, I’ll be at the garage.”
To which Fallon replied, “I’m really excited to host a show that starts today instead of tomorrow.”
