West Coast Launch of Diesel+Edun Collection at Ron Herman

Last weekend, Fred Segal’s Ron Herman shop on Melrose was the site of the West Coast launch of Diesel+Edun’s Studio Africa project and denim capsule collection. Studio Africa is a virtual campaign featuring nine artists in fashion, film, music, literature, and photography who have both talent and commitment to their respective countries and people.
The event at Ron Herman on Melrose’s merged style and sound with an outdoor BBQ and a performance by Solange Knowles, according to LA Racked. Guests were able to explore the Diesel+Edun 25-piece collection, which includes “dressed-up basics manufactured in Africa with Uganda’s finest CCI cotton.” Pieces are made using raw, untreated denim and were built around a reinterpretation of the four-pocket jean of the 1970s popular on the streets of South Africa.
According to their website, Diesel+Edun developed the concept of Studio Africa project to bring the “spirit of the collection to life. The project hosts inspirational, forward thinking creative work originating in or inspired by Africa.” The collaboration between Diesel and Edun engages a global audience to raise awareness for creative opportunities in Africa and subsequently building a sustainable trade through fashion.
The West Coast launch comes after other worldwide kick off events for Diesel+Edun.
