Giants’ Victor Cruz and Stacy Bash Polley Honored at Fielding Dreams Gala

RANDALL'S ISLAND PARK ALLIANCE 2013 Gala Fielding Dreams NYC

This week the Randall’s Island Park Alliance hosted its annual Fielding Dreams Gala at the Museum of Natural History, where two of New York’s community leaders were honored. New York Giants player Victor Cruz and Stacy Bash-Polley, a partner at Goldman Sachs, were celebrated for their efforts to better children’s lives in NY, and their commitment to Randall’s Island Park.

Former Giants linebacker and NFL Hall of Famer Harry Carson presented Cruz with his award, honoring the wide receiver’s focus on tackling childhood obesity by inspiring and educating young people with supportive programs. “Nobody knows better than I the enormous benefit of athletic activity for young people. Playing sports as a kid gave me the space and support I needed to dream big dreams,” Cruz said. “I want to commend the remarkable efforts of the Randall’s Island Park Alliance in striving to bring this benefit to all the children of New York City – and I expect to see future Giants from among the kids who play there today.”

Meanwhile Bash-Polley, who has worked to advance the wellbeing of children and career paths for young, was given her award by Harvey Schwartz, the CFO of Goldman Sachs. The financial exec said, “Randall’s Island Park Alliance brings thousands of youngsters to the island for sports and environmental programs, and hundreds of thousands more depend upon its new green frields; my own two children love playing at the park. It is such a vibrant, exciting public space, in the heart of New York City, and I am committed to sustaining the park on behalf of all New Yorkers.”

During the event Cruz and Bash-Polley participated in the Youth All-Star Awards Program, presenting a group of children from the Casita Maria Center and M.S. 223 with an award for their commitment to healthy lifestyles. More than six hundred prominent New Yorkers attended the event, which included a dinner and an auction. Among the items to go under the gavel was a Giants package including a meet-and-greet with Cruz and tickets to a game.
