MoMA PS1 Unveils ‘Party Wall’ For This Summer’s Warm Up Parties

It may be blistering cold outside, but MoMA PS1 is already gearing up for summer! The museum recently announced the winner of its annual Young Architects Program, which selects an emerging architect and design team to create a “flexible experimental space” in the spacious outdoor courtyard. All design submissions are required to create shade, seating, and water, while also addressing environmental issues, such as sustainability and recycling.

According to Gothamist, this year’s winner, CODA, plans to use reclaimed wood left over from skateboard-making to create the large-scale installation. Pedro Gadanho, Curator in MoMA’s Department of Architecture and Design, said that the winning design will “make an impactful and poetic architectural statement within MoMA PS1′s courtyard.”
