New York-based womenswear and accessories brand Proenza Schouler has signed a new licensing deal with Italy-based Iris SpA to make and distribute Proenza Schouler’s footwear and expand their shoe branch.

FashionWeekDaily.com reports that Proenza Schouler, who previously had their shoe collections produced in conjunction with designer Giuseppe Zanotti’s company, Vicini SpA, has signed a new licensing deal with Iris SpA, who “has the portfolio to rival Zanotti’s luxury conglomerate with an equally strong client list” including Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Michael Kors, Nina Ricci and more.

According to the brand’s website, Proenza Schouler was founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who met while studying at Parson’s School of Design. Their senior thesis, which they collaborated on, eventually became their first collection as Proenza Schouler, named after the designers’ mothers’ maiden names. The brand draws inspiration from “contemporary art and youth culture and is combined with an emphasis on tailoring and the use of custom developed fabrics.”

In 2008, the brand introduced its first show collection, followed by a handbag collection.
