West Hollywood Home Receives $80,000 High-Tech Makeover

The phrase “there’s an App for that” has perhaps never been more apparent than for West Hollywood resident Savan Kotecha’s new $80,000 high-tech home makeover. The homeowner, who is also a songwriter and vocal producer who has worked with Simon Cowell, recently modernized his 2,400-square-foot home in West Hollywood with apps that can lower the blinds, feed the fish and heat the pool.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that the 34-year-old West Hollywood resident is a self-admitted “Apple freak” who took his love for his iPad to a new level by incorporating an app “made by home-automation company Crestron.”
For $80,000, Kotecha told WSJ “it was totally worth it” and even is thinking of installing more technology features in his home.
Creston and other home-automation companies create apps that work on Apple and Android products, such as the iPad and smartphones. With the apps installed, home owners can easily control numerous functions in and around their home, including motion sensors in the floor, driveway warmers, pet feeding, closed-circuit thermal cameras and more.
The WSJ also reports that “emerging technologies in voice activation and motion-sensitivity” will eventually enable homeowners to perform functions such as opening curtains by swinging their hands and controlling a TV by scanning retinas and faces.
