“L’Arte del Ritratto” at Art Basel and Design Miami 2012

Marni will present the exhibition “L’Arte del Ritratto” for the first time in the U.S. during this year’s Art Basel and Design Miami 2012.

The exhibition will include a new edition of 125 chairs from the Marni Charity Project, which will be sold exclusively at the Marni Miami Store. During Art Basel and Design Miami 2012 each style of chair will be presented throughout the Marni boutique and feature a “small screen showing the video from the project “L’Arte del Ritratto” or behind-the-scenes from the online magazine of Marni.com, Anticamera”.

A collection of 100 chairs made in Colombia was presented for Salone del Mobile 2012 in a effort to reinforce the prisoners resettlement into social and working life. Marni re-interpreted the common Colombian seat by creating new color variations and modifying the shape and woven pattern.

Funds raised from the sale of the chairs will benefit Service Network for Children of Inmates, a network of faith-based and professional organizations that coordinate services to strengthen the bond between children and their imprisoned parents and mitigate the trauma caused by the separation.
