Jodie Foster to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honor at 2013 Golden Globes

Jodie Foster will receive the 2013 Cecil B. Demille award for lifetime achievement during the upcoming Golden Globe awards.

According to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Foster, 50, an Oscar winner for her role in Silence of the Lambs, will be the fourth-youngest person to be presented with the Cecil D. Demille award for lifetime achievement. Other recent honorees include Warren Beatty, Morgan Freeman and Al Pacino.

During a press conference when the honor was announced on Thursday, Foster’s co-star in Panic Room Kristen Stewart said, “This is a special moment for me. She’s been really important in my life for a long time.”

Foster is an actor, director and producer who has won two Golden Globes in the past for best actress in a motion picture-drama. She has also been nominated five other times, most recently in 2011. In total, according to the Beverly Hills Courier, Foster has appeared in more than 40 films.

HFPA president Dr. Aida Takla O’Reilly said at the press conference, “Jodie is a multifaceted women that has achieved immeasurable amounts of success and will continue to do so in her career. Her ambition, exuberance and grace have helped paved the way for budding artists in this business. She is truly one of a kind.”

Actresses Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler will host this year’s Golden Globe awards, which will take place on January 13 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
