“Ellie Davies: Into the Woods” at London’s Richard Young Gallery
Sometimes art is so intoxicating that you think you can stand and stare at it for hours. This is exactly how you feel when you see award-winning English photographer Ellie Davies’ “Into the Woods”. Currently being exhibited at the Richard Young Gallery in London, the collection consists of 24 photographs that seamlessly meld nature and fairytale into one.
The artist works alone in forests crafting and arranging her materials and then documenting her creations with photographs. Davies paints leaves, creates trails with wool, constructs dwellings from fallen branches, all the while barely disrupting the woodlands at all. The result is magical, whimsical and absolutely beautiful. If you see only one exhibition this month, make it this one.
