As of September 28, the International City of Light Festival is taking place in Moscow, coloring the city’s buildings and embankments with an unusual glow.

In it’s second year, the light festival will include more than 800 different shows in 20 different locations. Free to the public, main events will be held in Red Square and Manezh Square, the Central House of Artists and Gorky Park.

Visitors will be able to view space-light installations and audio-visual shows in addition to images projected onto building facades. Participants from different countries will present laser shows, video-mapping and other light effects. In the Central House of Artists, video projections will be shown in the concert hall with piano music. The festival opened on September 28 in Red Square and as of September 29 it was accessible to the general public. It is estimated that more than 3 million will come to watch the performances and see the installations – more than 10 times as many as last year.

The festival will be closed with a fireworks display on October 2.
