Female Chefs Join Together For Breast Cancer Awareness and Book Launch

In some of the best restaurants in the country women are making a name for themselves, especially Gabrielle Hamilton who has written book entitled Blood, Bones, and Butter. Let’s not forget the forthcoming Skirt Steak which showcases the journey of a female in the food industry, including finding balance in a male dominate industry.

Charlette Druckman’s Skirt Steak is a behind-the-scenes tell-all of more than 100 of the very best women in the cooking world today. According to the book’s teaser, “These are female chefs performing culinary and domestic high wire acts: juggling sharp knives, battering heat, bruising male egos, and working endless hours, often while raising small children and living from paycheck to paycheck.”

This upcoming October 8, Hatfield’s restaurant opens its doors to many female cooks in honor of Druckman’s book launch. This event will be somewhat of a culinary book tour where all female culinary genius have been invited to cook dinner including Sherry Yard of Spago Beverly Hills, Mary Sue Milliken of Border Grill, Nyesha Arrington of Wilshire Restaurant, Suzanne Tracht of Jar, Dakota Weiss of NINETHIRTY at W Los Angeles and Hatfield. The all-female brigade will prepare a wonderfully thought out five-course prix fixe menu, along with a selection of wines from the very best female winemakers in the country.

For that evening, autograph copies of Skirt Steak will be available for purchase courtesy of Druckman. The official book release will be on October 24. Tickets are $100 and seating will start at 6 pm on the 8^th. All proceeds will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For more information and reservations contact 323-935-2977.
