Elie Tahari’s New York Fashion Week preview evening turned into a Palm Beach-styled cocktail party. With the female models wore colorful shifts and sheath dresses, the men donned Bermudas, woven shorts and lime green and lapis blue palettes.
Perhaps not ready to send off the summer colors quite yet, Tahari’s preview show featured a Palm Beach cocktail party atmosphere with tropical prints, electric shades of pink, orange and green, loose tunics with white jeans, and tasteful sweater tops with second-skin pencil skirts. According to Tahari, the collection was intended to be an update of classic 1950s shapes.
In his notes, Tahari said, “Spring 2013 is youthful and flirty, reminiscent of Slim Aaron’s classic photographs of the beautiful people at play, reimagined for the modern woman.”
With a “relaxed luxury” theme dominating the runway, Tahari models showcased plunging necklines and shorter hems.
