There’s been talk for some time now, about Joe Bastianich and Mario Batali possibly opening an Eataly right here in Los Angeles. For those who are not so familiar with one of the best Italian superstores in New York, Eataly is an Italian super-deli/food court which the very best in Italian cuisine.
According to several sources, by the end of 2012 Eataly in L.A. should be ready for business in West Hollywood. Even though many would prefer a location on the Eastside, locals look forward to a taste of the mega-Italian eatery. For now, Mario’s and Cookbook are still a good option and less pricey.
As for Eataly making West Hollywood its home for good. Here’s what sources had to say: “Jay Luchs, a bigwig real estate guy who controls many Beverly Hills and West Hollywood commercial properties, is working on the Eataly contract and says, ‘Not close to a deal yet we are talking to a few different landlords.’ But, according to inside intel a deal for Eataly at the intersection of San Vicente and Melrose is likely,” states the post.
