Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ Goes for HK$375,000 at Auction
A Paul Newman Rolex Daytona sold for HK$375,000 at Bonhams' auction in Hong Kong.
Bonhams’ May 26 auction in Hong Kong saw a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ model go for HK$375,000. The timepiece, a true collector’s item, dates back to 1964 and is complete with square markers on the subsidiary dials.
The ‘Paul Newman’ moniker began in 1969 when the namesake actor wore the Daytona in his filmWinning, and it became a staple on his wrist thereafter. For this reason the Daytona, still manufactured by Rolex and well regarded amongst timepiece lovers, is most sought after in its vintage form.
