The Beverly Hills Film Festival (BHFF) will open on April 25 with the premiere U.S. showing of Afghanistan-set drama ‘The Black Tulip’. The event will also include five days of red carpets, networking events, panel discussions, parties, 50 films and a closing ceremony and gala.

Filmed entirely in Afghanistan, ‘The Black Tulip’ will open the Beverly Hills Film Festival on April 25. Directed by Sonia Nassery Cole and centered on a family’s fight for freedom against the Taliban, the film will have its U.S. debut at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences at 7:30 p.m.

Festival director Nino Simone said, “This year’s line-up is a stellar representation of talented filmmakers from around the globe. We are honored to be screening ‘The Black Tulip’, as we feel that it is a moving and true portrayal of the human turmoil and personal struggles happening in Afghanistan today.”

The festival’s closing ceremony and gala will be held at the Beverly Hills’ Four Seasons on April 29.
