Whitney Houston Memorabilia Auctioned at Hollywood Legends Series

Several items once belonging to recently deceased singer Whitney Houston have been auctioned off in Beverly Hills as part of the Hollywood Legends series.
Provided by Houston’s friends and family, a total of 13 items were put up for auction this past weekend during an auction in Beverly Hills. Fetching a total of $80,197 from bidders who entered their bid online, on the phone and in the gallery, the items including a bustier worn on stage by the late icon, which sold for $18,750 alone.
Also included in the auction was a grey velvet gown, sold for $11,250, that Houston wore to a pre-Grammy party in 1996, a plum velvet dress sold for $7,500 and a black and gold pants outfit sold for $2,125. Pearl drop earrings worn by Houston in “The Bodyguard” sold for $2,812 and a vest also worn by the singer in the film fetched $3,437.
According to celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien, interest in collectables associated with Houston has skyrocketed since her untimely death on February 11.
“What we have now is all we’re going to have from Whitney Houston,” he said. “That makes her memorabilia sought after by high end collectors and fans.”
An additional 30 dresses once worn by Houston will be auctioned off in June as part of Julien’s Music Icons series.
