Moscow’s Borodino Panorama Museum Restored and Reopened
To mark the 200-year anniversary of Russia’s victory in the war against Napoleon, a museum dedicated to the battle of Borodino has been restored and reopened in Moscow.
Last Tuesday a ceremony was held to celebrate the reopening of the 1812 war museum in Moscow after renovations were complete. The impressive round building presents a panorama of the Borodino battle and includes personal items that once belonged to Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov and other war heroes along with models of soldiers, horsemen and cannons. There is also a 115-meter long and 15-meter high canvas by Franz Roubaud that has been restored over the past 6 months.
The Borodino Panorama Museum was originally opened in 1912 when Russia was celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the victory.
