World Trade Center to be Most Expensive Office Tower in World

News | January 30, 2012

One World Trade Center, the skyscraper under construction at Ground Zero in the Financial District, continues to rise in more than stature. The price tag of the tower is now more than $3.8 billion, making it by far the world’s most expensive new office tower.

The current figure–a cool $700 million from the most recent public estimate–is attributed to protracted political challenges and abundant construction delays, none all to surprising in rebuilding the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The construction of One World Trade Center is overseen by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the  agency that owns the 16-acre World Trade Center site.
