Haute 100 Update: Keith Menin to Unveil New Shelborne during Art Basel after $20M Renovation
After two years and $20 million, hotelier extraordinaire Keith Menin is finally ready to reveal the new Shelborne Hotel in Miami Beach after he gave it his signature golden touch. The iconic 1930s art deco venue will be debuting its overhauled look with a week of parties, performances, exhibits, and more during Art Basel.
This opening is especially significant for the luxury hotel megastar as he began his incredible journey to the top of the ladder as a teenaged bellhop at the Shelborne.
“The Shelborne is one of the last original landmarks in Miami, so I felt it was time for a comeback,” explained Menin. “I believe that if you have an old art deco building from the 30s you should keep it and just update parts of it. We are actually bringing a lot of what used to be in the hotel and transforming it for today.”
Bing by Microsoft will be presenting Art of Night during the hotels celebration week. The series will feature parties and performances for each night of Art Basel Miami Beach to celebrate both the revamped Shelborne and the work of famous Miami nightlife photographer Seth Browarnik, who will be showcasing his iconic celebrity photos at the hotel.
Architect Jonathan Cardello of ADD Inc Miami has created a playful “naughty and nice” theme for the building’s renovated pool, ballroom, lobby, and guest rooms. Additionally, LDV Hospitality will be unveiling three fabulous new restaurants at the landmark hotel with design by Jun Aizaki of Creme Design – Lucy’s Cantina, Bar Tanaka, and Vesper American Brasserie.
