Red Hot Revolution

News | November 16, 2011

Los Angeles is the epicenter of a major revolution; a hot dog revolution.  While some might find it odd that the land of health and beauty is being inundated by red hots joints, experts say it makes perfect sense in the current economic climate. When the going gets tough, people look to save some cents and seek comfort in tradition.

So if a flailing economy has the inverse result in the hot dog market, let’s make an example out of L.A.  Pink’s and Tommy’s—two standing dog joints—are going strong and newcomers such as Dog Haus, Coney Dogs, Federal Bar, and Papaya King are shaking the scene.  Each of these places has its own unique offerings; ranging from Chicago, Detroit, and New York style dogs, to meatless creations, and super gourmet takes on the classic street treat.
