Haute Sports: Mario Lopez Crosses New York City Marathon Finish Line with ZICO

News | November 7, 2011

A slew of famous faces including Apollo Ono, Nate Appleman, Joe Bastianich, Christy Turlinghton Burns as well as others crossed the finish line during yesterday’s ING New York City Marathon. Among them also, was actor and EXTRA host, Mario Lopez.

Clocking in at 4 hours and 20 minutes, Mario kept a pretty quick stride. Not his first rodeo, he has also ran in Boston and in San Diego marathons, as well as biking  in various cities as well. He was also running with reason. Mario, a fitness ambassador at The Boys and Girls Club, likes to practice what he preaches by maintaining an uber-healthy and active lifestyle.

“I try to do a little something everyday, I take Sunday’s off. I think it’s important to break a little sweat everyday,” the star told ABC news in an interview a few days ago. Keeping busy with a slew of projects including books, fitness videos, America’s Best Dance Crew, and his own personal little project-his daughter Gia-it’s phenomenal that Mario is able to forge ahead with such vigor.

One thing noticed on hand during yesterday’s 26-mile run? ZICO Coconut Water. The star was chugging along and staying hydrated and focused with the benefit-packed refresher pre and post the race.

A favorite of active A-listers like Gisele Bundchen, Courtney Cox and Alex Rodriguez, it’s pretty clear that ZICO is the perfect companion on the field, on the road, and even on the runway.
