Haute 100 Update: Will Smith Returns to TV as Producer of a new ABC Comedy

News | October 10, 2011

Will Smith is making a return to television – but not as the Fresh Prince. The Hollywood superstar, who gained much of his fame from starring in the popular 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, has accepted a producing role in a new ABC comedy he and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith just recently sold the rights to.

The power couple has been under scrutiny in the midst of break-up rumors but, as far as business goes, is still very much together. Their new TV show will star Latin singer Anthony “Romeo” Santos, who won the Favorite Latin Music Artist trophy at the American Music Awards.

Santos was also invited to perform at the White House and will star in the semi-autobiographical comedy playing a young man in New York City who has to try to strike a balance between his big career ambitions and the expectations of his close-knit neighborhood, including a traditional immigrant father.
