However, according to the NY Times, this kind of spending should be kept on the down low, for fear of a public outcry. For those who live in the Hamptons, this means: conceal your new $5 million summer house from friends, neighbors, and even extended family members. “Don’t ask to talk to the buyer about it, because he won’t. They don’t want anyone to know they are buying,” said real estate agent Diane Saatchi. You wouldn’t want people asking you for some extra cash, now would you?
