“Hope for Haiti Now” Telethon Rakes In $57 Million

News | January 25, 2010

Last Friday night’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon that was organized by George Clooney and broadcast on every TV station raked in a whopping $57 million for Haiti relief efforts. After the horrible earthquake, many wanted to take the time to help out in any way they could. It was a wonderful show for a wonderful cause, as Justin Timberlake belted out an amazing cover version of “Hallelujah.” All the other performances were fantastic as well, including performances from the likes of Bono, The Edge, Rihanna, and Jay-Z‘s “Stranded,” and Madonna‘s “Like a Prayer.” The album that resulted after these performances became so popular, that it was the number one seller on iTunes in 18 countries over the weekend.
