Haute 100 Update: Thomas Keller Tours the London Food Scene in Preparation for The French Laundry Pop-Up
Renowned San Francisco-based chef Thomas Keller has been causing quite the commotion among London’s culinary scene as he gears up for the debut of his pop-up, The French Laundry at Harrods. Keller has been spotted scouting out the local foodie scene at Harrods Food Hall, leaving behind his six super successful U.S. restaurants briefly in preparation for the very highly anticipated pop-up version of the Yountville original.
The French Laundry gained its sterling reputation from absolutely sumptuous dishes – from concept to execution – like the now-legendary Oysters and Pearls, where tapioca and caviar are the pearls. He possesses more Michelin stars than any other American chef with a whopping seven, and has been recently awarded the French Légion d’honneur for his services to food.
For 10 days in October, The French Laundry at Harrods will offer London gastronomes a chance to taste Keller’s famous fare – without the transatlantic flight. While Daniel Boulud opened an installment of his Bar Boulud in Knightsbridge and Wolfgang Puck opened an outpost of his Cut steakhouse in Mayfair just last week, Keller’s food has previously only been available in the U.S.
The pop-up is a replica of the original Yountville establishment that is being built in Harrods’ Georgian restaurant with everything from ingredients right down to the cutlery being shipped over from the U.S. along with 30 staff members to include waiters and chefs – even reservations are being routed through Yountville, promising to replicate as exactly as possible the illustrious French Laundry experience for our friends across the pond.
