Saturday, April 9 marked the end of a spectacular week of sailing at the Voiles de Saint Barth. Richard Mille sponsored this second edition of the event and the sailing conditions upheld the gorgeous island’s sterling reputation with strong winds and exceptionally blue seas primed for the competition.
The competition featured courses selected by event organizers that offered spectacular scenery and presented competitors with a variety of tactical challenges, including a complete circumnavigation of the island, which the brave crews tackled on the final day of the event.
More than 400 sailors from 20 countries came out in 48 yachts, more than double the attendance of last year. This leap in participation signifies the Voiles de Saint Barth as a growing main international regatta.
The competition was fierce. In the Maxi-Yacht class, the celebrated Rambler 100 took in a second victory with its owner, George David. The undefeated winner was presented with a limited edition Richard Mille RM 028 “Voiles de Saint Barth” diving watch on Saturday evening’s prize ceremony.
