Hautels: Peninsula Hotels Launch Japanese Disaster Relief Campaign

News | April 7, 2011

In light of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Peninsula Hotels has launched HOPE for JAPAN, a haute fundraising effort that involves each Peninsula across the U.S. and Asia. The initiative has shown that the company has remained true to its values as a family owned business with respect for the community at large.

HOPE for JAPAN aims to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society in three ways:  Taking off from the renowned Peninsula Afternoon Tea, a unique Japanese Afternoon Tea is now served at each hotel location. 100 percent of the proceeds from every Japanese Afternoon Tea set that’s sold will be donated to the Red Cross. Inspired by another Japanese tradition, origami, each Peninsula Hotel also has a Tree of 1,000 Cranes in its lobby.  The tree is constructed of origami cranes, and each guest is encouraged to donate a minimum of 5 dollars to receive or make their own crane to hang on the tree.  In addition, The Peninsula will make one donation to the Red Cross for every guest stay. From now until the end of May, you can support the Japanese relief effort in style while enjoying the luxury lodging at The Peninsula Hotels.
